• Um, it's perhaps the territory's most um, well-known runoff barra fishing spot, apart from Kakadu and Daly, perhaps up there as well.

• So that's a real key feature, this time of year for us as well, with our harbour fishing, and that is to grab a feed of mud crabs, which you can't do through the wet season and the runoff.

• So offshore starts to really fire as well as as well as the remainder of the runoff until perhaps the end of May.

• So it's only the start of what's to come, I think, for the rest of April and then right through into May, we'll probably still have really good runoff fishing into June until we get that really cold snap middle of June, I reckon.

• So, yeah, it's only going to get better and better, mate, from uh, from now on, right through, uh, we'll probably have runoff in Kakadu right through till middle of June, at least, I think, so, pretty exciting uh, year ahead for, for barrow fishing in the Top End.

• Obviously, the runoff this year is going to be sensational in all the rivers and obviously the Daly and the roper are still too high, so it's going to make a little bit harder for this weekend for people to find places to go, but definitely the vic.

• And so it doesn't really suit runoff style fishing. Probably get one or 2 groups each year that want to have a crack at those big runoff barrels on fly and we've got a few of them over the years, which is awesome, but most fly fishes are really keen on seeing the fish before they cast at it.

• I reckon it was the next runoff. So that year was everyone in the Conga line out the front of Shadi and made one or 2 people and then the next year it was almost like an overnight thing, everyone was on the active, just bashing it, you know, and you had maybe one or 2 people trolling around.

• So with all this water, that means that our runoff is going to be pretty exciting, because there'll be a lot more water to run off, so to speak.

• And yeah, that little cell came through for a few days, it actually was good for us in the last few days of fishing out in Kakadu, just completed the last runoff fishing trip and it really jumped the water temperature back up again, got the fish fired up for a few days.

• So it's a real sweet spot for weather and and the end of the runoff fishing. So, yeah, I'm actually sitting under a tree here right now enjoying the nice cool weather, really low humidity today, not even a drop of sweat and just waiting for the next plane load of boys to rock up and out we go out to Kakadoo for 5 or 6 days.

• So, yeah, people sort of think you just rock up and catch Barramundi up here, but it, it's, it's definitely not the case, and particularly runoff can be one of those sort of feast or famine times, and the, and the trick for me as a guide, I suppose, is to try and balance that out a bit and get results on a consistent basis.

• Um, there'd be some nice flat water out the front of um, perhaps Shady Camp and the Daly where they'd be getting some nice conditions where you'd get, you'd have a runoff colour change coming out of the mouth of the river on those neck tides and there'd be 3Ds and barrow around there for sure as well.

• But this, if this keeps going the way it's going, you know, this is sort of 3 good wets in a row, so that's what really starts to set up some really amazing fishing for next runoff.

• We're sort of into this transition period almost now where we're going from, well, you know, our true runoff through into the dry season period, uh, the boat ramps in the Big Rivers will become ti- or have become tidal again as the flightboarders sort of run out a bit.
