Mary River

• So, yeah, it's right where the, where the Mary River um flows in from the next billabong upstream and and there's obviously a heap of bait there right now and just 100s of those sort of small barrows, those little 45 sort of centimetre jobbies.

• Shady Camp is, um, is a section on the Mary River, which separates the salt water from the freshwater, so it's about 35 kilometres inland from the ocean.

• And I can see 2 buffaloes just past the fishing boat that we're driving past right now, and only 50 metres off the bank, but yeah, it's um, robbery bill belongs to one section of the Mary River, which is a couple of 100 K's long, and flows out to sea at a pretty famous barra fishing spot people know called Shady Camp.

• Do you remember that Tom and the whale swum into the, what was it, the, um, the river up there? Was it the Mary River? The big whale? That was the East Alligator River.

• Um, the coastal creeks around, uh, Shady Camp, and the Mary River there, efficient really well as long as the weather's not too rough to get to them, and, and then, of course, they're into Kakadu, where I'm heading, um, is, is sort of easier as well, um, when it's all flooded up on the Billabong floodplains there.

• And I mean, that's not even the highest density in the territory, we've got the Mary River, that's got a few more in it again, and and then the Adelaide River comes before the south and east alligators as well.

• And then, of course, the billabongs will open up pretty soon, um, right through uh, that Mary River system and then into Kakadu as well as the tracks dry out a bit.
