I saw there's been some government appointments up there. I'm not sure whether Watty's phone's been ringing, to fill some of those positions or whatever's going on there. We love it up there. Watty, g'day.

G'day, duck, and my phone hasn't been receiving too many calls from the government, probably wise decision from them. No, not at all. You should be the man there. I mean, hello.

You should be it. You should run the show. Yeah, I might have a bit too much dirt to dig up. They need them too big of a shovel, mate.

No, no, no, no, no. There'll be no dirt, mate. Let me say this to you. You could imagine if you were in some sort of power, be 24 hour bottle layers.

The pubs, the pubs would never close. Hey? Just see. Yeah, we'd need it.

You know, the 1st policy would be to introduce the pub tub shuttle bus from every pub. You don't have to worry about it. Listen, talking about pubs. I saw last weekend, the Australia Day celebrations at the Dundee to have it. look like a great time out there.

I'm tipping the Australia celebrations were big all over the territory, especially up, especially up in the Top End. Yeah, it was, mate. We, um, I'd only just got home from New Zealand a couple of days before, but we, um, yeah, we pulled up on the side of the road out near the Nunamar there and watched the, they have a massive Australia Day Ute run that starts in it, um, the V8 supercars, Hidden Valley racetrack there, and goes all the way through town and end up out at the Nuni for a big Australia Day party too. So, that's always a heap of fun and people were on the side of the road with swimming pools and they had big cranes with...

Oh, good. How good is it? I work some jerks. Yeah, yeah. So it was really good. And I don't know, it probably did rain at Dundee as well because right when we were about to head to the pub, which I think was a bit of a saviour for the lioness who wasn't real keen. It actually hammered rain and I was like, oh, there's not much undercover at the noon.

Maybe we'll just go home for a little while and then of course we had a couple of beers and couldn't be bothered going back to the pub. But, um, yeah, it was a big day, mate, and it's, you know, one thing that we um, do really well up here is, is pretty much all stick together right throughout the year, so we don't see too much of that, that um, sort of unfortunate division that happens sometimes in a bit bigger city. So it's just a good vibe. You know what?

You've just nailed it. That's exactly right. You stick together there. You don't have that division that they have in other parts of the country.

And that's why it's the last frontier for me, the northern territory. I love it up there. It is just, that is exactly it. everyone sticks together.

I did see some video, that Ute run, and the heck was people just setting up inflatable pools on the side of the road, sitting in there, drinking, drinking, drinking cans and watching the Hitchcape. I mean, only in the territory. How many times do we say it? Oh, great place.

Anyway, I'll be up there a bit later in the year. What do you say? Get ready. We're coming up there and downtime too, downtime.

We're going to do some radio, obviously, every week, but we'll be having a few weeks up there. bit of downtime. Cannot wait now. What's biting?

Well, mate, I'm a bit on, I'm not, I don't have my finger right on the pulse of what's been going on up here because I've been overseas, of course, but I do, you know, every day there's boats going out and uh, and I've got a few um, mates that I know are going out and and they're right onto the fish, so if that's uh, any measure, uh, everyone's sort of doing it. We have had a lot of rain, so that sort of holds everyone back a bit. It, it's hard to catch. Um, or it's hard, sort of hard to have good predictable conditions and um, consistent fishing if you've got a rising river.

So, yeah, after 3 or 4 days of rain, you know, you'd normally wait a couple of days for it to sort of settle down and get into that monsoon break period, which is what we've, we've just come out of before the weekend. So that was nice uh all before Australia day. So, yeah, they, there, there was plenty of fish court um right then, but perhaps this week just gone, um might have been a bit quieter just because of the sheer amount of rain we've had. All right, no, fair enough, mate.

and you can't be everywhere and as you say, you've got a big year ahead of you as well. So we'll be getting some pretty good reports and I love those ones. We do when you're actually out on the water too. I mean they're fantastic.

And we've caught you out in Arnham Land, on Darwin Harbour, out off Dundee. I mean, it's fantastic to get you when you're on the boat, which is great. But I tell you what, you won, mate, when you said that the Ute run, people had swimming pools set up on the side of the road. I mean, how good is that?

Yeah, good. was cool. They had half a dozen of those big IBC 1000 litre pods on the back of the tilt tray truck. and 2 of those big inflatable pools there, yeah, with all the kids in them and that. Yeah, it was real good, mate.

And and they would have got a bit of a top-up too because of that big rain we had and one other note on the rain. I heard on the radio up here the other day. It's the wettest start to a wet season we've had in 29 years. Really? That's going to be, that's, that's a big deal for the fishing, of course, and and it's also a big deal for every, like all you mob coming up later on in the year for waterfalls and swimming holes and stuff can be amazing.

Well, it'd be fantastic, mate. That's why we want to go. Well, that's not why, but I mean, we're coming up there because we want to, but we're filming an episode of Oz Afraid TV, a couple that end at Uluru. It airs rock.

And um, We're going to take some, some downtime and head straight to your place. And I'll tell you that, Nunamar is good too. We must have wanted to go there for a bit of a bit of a schnitzel and a cold one, mate. A snake, get a T-bone or something, eh?

Yeah, we, um, if you can time it properly, you might be here for one, one of the big Nunamaradeos is on, that's a, that's always a pretty awesome. How good would that be? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I saw that when we stayed at the weekend at the back of that noon of my last time and yeah, good spot there.

mate, I just love it up there. and we're going to definitely go and spend some time out of Dundee as well. So there'll be a couple of us. And it'll be great, mate. and who knows, you might be able to spare a moment to take us out for a bit of a fish. I reckon we'll be able to line that up, mate.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to having a bit of a break at that, Tommy. Is that a dig at me? In other words, you'll go out and I won't catch anything. That's what I thought you meant there for a minute.

More, more, more hard work than taking a regular client out taking you out, probably. Oh, you'd be like, yeah, in other words, I was waiting for you to say you were just going out for a bit of a cruise in the boat because that's all it'll be because you don't care. Yeah, we'll leave the rods at home. No, we'll be right, man. don't worry, man.
