I mean it doesn't get any more real than this. We're on Fraser, and this bloke's in Kakadev.

Watty, g'day. Oh, hang on. What, mate? Oh, mate, fair, Tingon, this is unprofessional body from you. I mean, seriously, what's doing up there, son?

Oh, I was trying to do about a 1000 things at once here, mate. We're just called up to a spot to try and catch a few reef fish for dinner and bloody phone starts ringing. Where are you? We're right out the mouth of the South Alligator River in Kakadu.

just dropped the anchor beside Field Island. Couple of nice spots here for some jewfish and snapper. Sounds good. Sounds all right.

They biting? Yeah, they did yesterday, mate. Yeah, we took it. We got a good lot of them yesterday, so got his little window here open the low tide today.

Hopefully before these storms turn up, and yeah, hopefully, that'll keep us in Tucker for the rest of the trip, and then boys will be able to take a bit home as well. So that'll be good. Yeah, absolutely. And is this a trip that's been on for a few days?

Are you camped out there as well at your base? Yeah, that's right, yeah. So based in Kakanoo, in Jabru there. We're on day 3 of 5 at the moment.

Jeez, you sound all right. Yeah, well, I'm working, mate. The boat are a bit dusty. You sound pretty good considering you're on day 3 of five. Normally the 1st night is a big one.

That'd be fair to say. Yeah, well, yeah, I think so. Every night's pretty big. Well, it is a territory.

That's right. Yeah, no, they look after it's pretty good there. The boys are staying at a roar at the lodge there and yeah, good feed there and nice swimming pool, good rooms and stuff. So yeah, it's all happy days.

Fairly. How good does that sound? So anyway, we don't get you more real than this. It is funny. You're out there fishing on a boat using your starlink to talk to me and we're actually on Fraser Island with a starlink.

You have a fish tear, a lot of fishing here, mate. Yeah, we did. We went over there for a family holiday 100 years ago and that was good. Yeah, driving down the beach in the car and stuff.

So, yeah, beautiful. Yeah, it's a big part of it. They say here that the fish are on around September on or something. I think we might be a bit quiet where we are now, although we're here filming for the TV show.

So we did a bit of fishing yesterday with no luck, as you know. I haven't got a clue. So, um, but, but anyway, I don't mind the beach fishing, actually, because you can, actually, sort of the boys, it's probably my favourite type of fishing, because you pull up on the beach and you can camp on the beach and pull out an awning, set yourself up and, uh, you know, and and basically fish from your car. I love it

Yeah, that's right. It's a low price of situation, isn't it? We, I mean, we, we've taken us 2 hours to drive down here in the boat today and, you know, you spend a fair bit of money on fuel and all that sort of stuff, so you're a bit more invested, but if you're just cruising along the beach, having a bit of a flick, catch a whiting or not, who cares, you know, happy days. Do something else.

Yeah. Well, they get onto them here, and as I said, plenty of people do it, and there's, you sue the rocket launchers on the bullbars, the four-wheel drives. We're 20-foot beach rods, they're sitting in those things, and out there chasing fish, but there's a lot more to do, a lot more to do than that here. But how are they biting up there in general? Sorry, mate. There's some beautiful swimming holes up there too.

Yeah, I know, it's some great spots. We had a good one yesterday and then obviously we've got Lake McKenzie coming up in a couple of days, which we look forward to that. Mate, how's it been up there? But the weather system.

You talk about some storms rolling through, what's doing with the Barramundi and fishing in general, mate. It's all on the improve on the go. Yeah, it's all go. We've, um, they've been in... Windows, uh, uh, we've been... Ooh, his face looks a bit dodgy.

Yeah, it's a bit cloudy here, like I said, storms are building up, so that might be having a bit of an effect on our communication ability. Oh, I hope you're using something. I mean, because I know usually with this sort of stuff, use a code hanger. Yeah, no, I've got 2 coat hangers. There's an antenna.

Oh, well, mate, we shouldn't have any more problems then. So, I think I was asking, you talked, you mentioned those storms, and I think I was going to ask you, what will, what is all this weather activity, because obviously it's a cycle up there. The weather, it affects everything and the seasons. How are we going and how are we looking for the Barramundis, mate?

Yeah, well, it just keeps coming this late rain this year. We probably would have preferred to get it in December, but it keeps coming. So the rivers are staying full, mate, and the longer you got water up on the floods, better it is for... And I think what he wanted died again on the phone.

What we might have to do, we might have to leave what he... Hang on, we got him? He's back. What he? No.

Oh, you're still there? Okay, keep going. stand in the one spot, will you? Can someone hold onto the coat hanger and connect it, put their finger inside your ear?

That'll give it a bit, that'll give it a bit of a kick. Oh, mate, we're professional. Well, this is real deal stuff. I mean, we're not talking to people in studios.

You're out in the, you're on a boat in khaki, for God's sake. So, so the wet stuff's still hanging around a little bit, but it'll all have a good effect anyway at the end. And I think what he's gone. We won't leave Watty there, I think.

Are you there? No, we'll leave Watty there, and of course, that's a bit unfortunate, but he is, as I mentioned, he is on a boat in Kakadu, and obviously communication is difficult. means using a staling. As you said, there were some big storm clouds appearing up there.

I can tell you, though, what are you talking to him privately? You reckon that he's going to be for a bumpy year this year, the bar of money that it's about jumping into the boat, which is fantastic. So if you're going up there, you need to be sure to check out what what he gets up to. Go fishing with him.

He's the best in the business. And certainly you can do that. But as I said, this is the real deal. We do this show when we are on the road ourselves, and when we do cross to some of our guests, when we can't get them, they're in some real adventure places, which is what makes this radio show what it is.

But you sometimes technology can let you down sometimes and it's obviously let us down today. He's on satellite too on that boat as well. So obviously that big storm clouds that he's got hovering over his head. Imagine what he on the boat right now just looking up at these black clouds knowing he's going to get soaked.
