It's time now to head to the Top End and Bagger Barra with Glenn Watty Watt, thanks to Barefoot Fishing Safaris and Uniden. For the best in UHF communications, explore the extract series at Uniden.com.au. Oh, now, man, what are you up there in the Top End? He tells us what's fighting up there. He's on the line. Watty g'day.
Good day, Doug. How you going? Oh, mate, you love that new intro, aren't you? I do love it.
I absolutely love that song. So good. Yeah, it's a good fit for you 2 up there, mate, where it's all happening. Well, what has been happening because you've had the monsoon.
That all still happening has the, how's the um, the weather doing and uh, what's biting? Mate, we got a heap of rain from that monsoon. It was really good. There was falls.
We had one night at our place last week that was over a 100 mil. Um, and not big heavy storms either, just that nice gentle sort of pitter patter over 10 hours. absolutely perfect for what we want to do, all the rivers like I forecast um last week, all the rivers have popped up and and perhaps um saved sort of what was looking like, it might be a bit of a sketchy runoff. Season in some areas. I reckon this will actually be just right, because we've had constant sort of good stormy rain, but no massive flood yet.
So, one nice big flood before we sort of start at the end of the month will be absolutely unreal for, for us right through until, you know, perhaps even into June, as long as the water temps don't drop too much. So, yeah, pretty exciting now. Just a quick one, mate. Well, I've got you.
I got a couple of mates heading that way, and I think they're going a bit early. When does Litchfield and all those swimming holes in those places that you can't get into now? When do they open up usually? Oh, it does vary because a lot of them these days have got, um, you know, Bishman Road access all the way.
It really relies on when the rangers can get in there and confidently say there's no soldies in there. People don't seem to like swimming in waterholes with salt water from the house. No, no, no, no. But just roughly, I mean, there's a bit of a ballpark.
Yeah, it's May June. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Usually corrobor is opened by Easter sort of thing.
Right, fair enough. Depending on the year, you know, when Easter is. So yeah, that's right. Good stuff.
And what about, at the moment, the fishing, mate. What's biting? Well, it's hard to tell, mate, because like I say, everyone's keeping it pretty quiet at the moment. I know my neighbours got a nice new boat and he has been out, well, every day virtually.
I see him come back and watch it about every 2nd day. He's a guide as well. So, you'll be out there, Cincinnati spots and getting onto him. I'm still, I've just painted my trailer and doing all my annual maintenance and then I'll be out there myself, but there'll be no question that there's plenty of barrier getting, getting caught right now too. And I, and I do know, like I said, the other day that, um, the reefishing is going really well, which it usually does at this time of year too, that, those golden snapper and dewies that everyone loves to catch and eat, um, they come in a bit closer and, and it gets easier too, for sure.
Why you just put a little GPS tracker on your neighbour's boat? I wouldn't know whether he'd like that too much. Well, don't tell him. Just stood on, they go over there with a beer, and when he's not looking. Stick it on there.
one on his boat, mate. I got half a dozen already getting around out there on other things. Fair enough. Oh, he's a guy as well.
Is there any little arguments over the fence or anything like that? No, well, we, it's funny because he only moved in 6 months ago and we, we, we, he's only just been in the game for a little while, so they've been. blowing. He's a blowing. He's a blowing, is he?
He's a blowing. Well, yeah, I suppose he's new to the game. But yeah, it's good to be able to work with blokes that are sort of up and comers and super keen and stuff, um, you know, keen to do bigger group work and and things like that and he's a good country boy actually from Finley, Daniloquin sort of way. So, yeah, no stuff.
Oh, Tommy, yeah. Oh, good stuff. All right. Well, our man's, of course, is you, Barefoot Fishing Safaris.
All right, we will let you get back to back painting that trailer, getting yourself ready, we'll catch a free yarn next week, mate. Yeah, too easy, mate. I might be might have a fishing report for you next week with any luck. That'd be good, mate.
There's a fishing segment, which would be fantastic. Right, eh, good on you. Go and get that GPS and stick it on your neighbour's boat, all right? talk to you next week.
Ooh. game came around on his console. Yeah, stay out of the pub up there. I talk to you soon.
Yeah, I'm in the pub at the moment. It's pretty open. No doubt about that, all right. All right, see you. All right, good on you.
There he is, Barefoot Fishing Safaris. That's our man, Watty, check him out, or angling adventures. If going up to the Top End, he's your man, Barefoot Fishing Safaris.
