And of course, Watty's a man who's been fishing 24 hours a day lately from Barefoot Fishing Safaris up there in the northern territory because he's trying to get that $1000000 fish. Watty, you're on your way back with the family. You've ever got the kids now out there trying to get you a million. Yeah, that's right.

They got the kids working and the grandparents. So we're going to get it today, but they didn't come through. They didn't catch many fish this mob. Well, mate, honestly, I mean, I thought, and of course, the long suffering Louise, you've probably got to, you know, her were the fishing rod as well and trying to get her to jack that $100000000 fix.

Yeah, I had them all working pretty hard for a start, but they gave up pretty quick, and of course, I caught the most fish, as you would expect, Duck. Of course, but did any of them have a tag on them? No tags. No.

No, I think, well, actually, one of the ones I had on probably had a tag, but my old man was too slow on the neck and missed him. Yeah, right, fair enough. Well, I mean, you are, though. I mean, seriously.

I mean, how many fish do you reckon you catch a week? personally? Oh, well, well, none. I don't get to go fishing myself very, very much at all.

So, yeah, a little time like this out is pretty good. Yeah, right, okay. And obviously your dad's up from the farm, is he? Yeah, mum and dad are up to the farm.

We've got a big list of jobs for them, so I give them a couple of hours off this morning. I'll get them work again later on the start. Yeah, mate, if you go looking for him this afternoon and he just appeared. He'd be on the plane flying home.

I mean, seriously. I mean, mate, you're kidding, Monty. I mean, you're one of these blokes. You're one of them, eh?

You get family members up, few jobs around the joint, while you're doing nothing. Oh, yeah, right. Well, I'm doing nothing. That sounds about right. Yeah.

You've already told one. You already told one line. I hardly go fishing. Now, listen.

Mate, someone won 10 grand through the week, yeah? Yeah, it was only a few hours after daylight on the 1st of October there when the $1000000 Fish started, caught off Stokesville Wolf too, I think, right in the city there. Barrow that, yeah, landed himself 10 grams. So, number one's ticked off. It might even be more in the last since overnight since I haven't heard too, but yeah, that was a good start.

Yeah, absolutely. Is the bloke shave it up yet? Oh, likely not. No.

I mean, he's got a fair bit to spend. Yeah, well, that's right. I mean, I mean, he's won 10, 10 grand. I mean, how good is it?

What is this 10, this $1000000 fish? What has it done for tourism up there? Because I'm tipping up, he stacks of people heading up there to try and catch a fish machine, especially experienced anglers. Yeah, yeah, I think it's definitely, it's definitely changed the way people view the shoulder seasons.

I think, sort of this sort of the end of the year and the start of the year. Not so much, you know, Christmas time Darwin's pretty vacated, as you know, everyone heads south and catches up with rallies and stuff for Christmas. But, yeah, this sort of, this late season and early next season is when it's um seems to have been probably most effective for tourism and certainly the numbers are showing that um that there's more money being spent um on the act of going fishing and that um that's probably largely driven by locals um because we're here and and we can just pop out for half a day whenever we get a chance. So, yeah, I mean, it's all good.

And mate, a bit of rain about as we, as the wet season builds up, are the fish on the bite? Yeah, we got our 1st bit of rain at our place, there in B's Creek overnight. actually. We sort of got out, went outside the house and everything was wet and it was raining, but yeah, steamed right up now and that definitely brings the fish on.

They've been biting really well, the last, or definitely the last couple of weeks, since it has really kicked into that proper build-up scenario where the water temps are high and the weather's been a bit better as well. The winds sort of dropped right off and we're right into that proper build-up weather now. So nice and flat most of the day until a sea breeze comes and cools you off in the afternoon, which is exactly what we want. Oh, absolutely.

And then I can imagine just going past the bottle, though, and heading home to watch the storms rolling. Yeah, that's right. Yep. Well, it has been pretty stormy, so we're expecting our 1st 1st afternoon storms pretty soon.

which is, you know, that's pretty exciting for us living up here. Watch the dust off all of everything and get everything greened up again and off we go for a big wet season, hopefully. Most people gone. Most of the tourists gone now.

Mostly genuine tourists are gone. The school holiday stuff was still a few trickling into school holidays, but uh, the caravaners and uh, um, mostly all gone, sort of headed south, uh, chasing a bit more mild weather. Yeah, that perfect opportunity for us to get out and have a fish ourselves with the waterways being a bit quieter. Good stuff, mate.
