Well, we've talked to Wadi before we get out of here. He's been to New Guinea fishing. How'd they go? Were they biting over there, Watty?

Ah, yeah, g'day mate. Yeah, we did a couple of days fishing there, but most of it, we spent just maintaining a few boats and stuff at 2 of the lodges. We've got over there, but yeah, we caught a few barra and a couple of bass while we were over there, myself and a couple of mates here from Darwin, so it was a good trip. I thought you were going to say, but most of the time we just spent at the bar.

Well, well, the bar's a fairly mobile thing in New Guinea, as you'd probably imagine. I don't know. I've never been there There's not too many rules over there, mate.

So we do whatever we want and it's pretty cool. Oh, there's not too many rules, we do what we like. You're kidding, huh, yeah? So anyway, so there's no rules.

So there's no drinking rules and just drink how much you want, do you? Well, interestingly enough, actually, there's no, you're not allowed to buy takeaway grog there, unless you've got a liquor license, so you can drink it in the, in like a license establishment, but they've got no takeaway. So we're, we're at the lodges that we're using. Of course, they've got loysters, so we can grow a couple of beers and go out in the boat, but yeah, it's an interesting difference to Australia and they chose that themselves, the people of a couple of the big townships.

So yeah, it's obviously a good thing for them. So you cause some fish there, which is fantastic. So and this is for people that are setting up and booking with angling adventures, yeah? Yeah, that's right.

Yeah, we just wanted to get over there after a couple of years of sort of doing no work through COVID. We just want to get over and make sure all the boats and stuff were going good. So we've got 3 boats at Lake Murray, which is the Black Bass and Barrow destination and 4 at Ben's Back River, which is the big Barrow destination down there in the southwest of the country. So we did a fair bit of flying around and um, saw some really amazing stuff and, and of course, caught up with all those legends down there to run the fishing charters with us and um, yeah, I'm actually keen to get back over there again in May, not too long away.

actually, it's good. Yeah, it's not too far off. Actually, that is good, mate. So, all right.

So all happening there. Now, what's happening in your neck of the woods now that you're back. Um, I guess how's how's the wet season at tape starting to taper off or at all or is it still bucketing? No, no, it's still pretty wet.

The Daly River's sitting up around 10 metres there, so that means all the filler bombs are sort of backfilling, all the creeks are backfilling, which is really good. It keeps, keeps all the bait and the, and the barr sort of breeding up and fattening up up on the floodplain. So I'll start guiding on the 5th of March. But yeah, between now and then got a bit of work to do on the boat and do logistics to organise, but yeah, it's all, it's all shaping up pretty good.

The fishing's already going really well. It's just, we just don't, I don't plan any fishing trips, um, until the weather settles a little bit, which is usually that 1st week in March for us. Yep, so not too far away, mate. Another couple of weeks and things will settle down and then another week after that, you're out and back into it, which will be fantastic, which means you'll be hard to get hold of.

Yeah, that's right. Yeah, every 2nd week I'll be pretty hard to get hold of them, see what we can do. Yeah, I know you'll look after you, mate. All right.

Well it's good to see the fishing still going well up there in the Top End and I'm sure plenty of people are rubbing their hands together getting ready to get up there. So, uh, well done now. If people want to book those trips overseas. We just watch the website.
