It's time to head to the Top N and Bag a Barra. With Glenn Watty Watts, thanks to Shimano. Remember to buy local and fish local. visit shimanofish.com.au. And before we get out of here, we better talk to our man, Watty, in the Top End about taking the right fishing gear with you when you go fishing.
What do g'day? G'day, duck. How it going today? Oh, mate, doing the best I can with the equipment I have, Watty, which is, you know, not the best.
But anyway, we're going all right. Main, when people go fishing, there are all different, you know, brands of different models of rods and, you know, there's beach rods and there's rods for boats and then there's those little rods that we use off the bank. When you're fishing up there, mate, what should we be using up there? Yeah, well, that's right.
It does, you know, you can walk into a tackle shop and there's 10,000 rods and you can get pretty confused, but basically, like in a nutshell, duck, what we're doing up here with our barrow, particularly the casting and our, I guess our light, um, light tackle, sort of pelagic stuff with the queenfish and Trevally and that as well. We're, we're using gear that's fairly comparable to what blokes would be throwing lures for Murray Cod with or your, your soft plastic fisherman for your snapper down there as well. So, there's actually a decent amount of crossover, so, uh, a lot of guys um, sort of like to bring their own gear with them when they um, when they come up, which is cool by me. But of course, I've got all my good gear on the boat at all times as well.
Yeah, and good for us too, because we're sponsored by Shimano this show, and that's the year he is. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, I did notice that you, Shimano, were on board too. They must like the rough ones.
I've had a really good association with Shimano for 10 years now. So when you say the rough ones, it'd be you and me. That's right. And yeah, look, they're gear really is.
Some of the toughest, I suppose, that's going around. There's probably other brands out there. They're a bit more glitzy and glary and sort of shiny looking, but I, I sort of equate it to the, to the old, you know, Hilux work, you, some of these, um, the old Corado reels and stuff that Shimano have been putting out for 100 years. They're pretty bulletproof and they're just good sort of workhorses.
So that's what you'll see a lot on a lot of charter boats up here. yeah Yeah, well, mate, well, I know when you think fishing here, I mean, the 1st name comes to your head, not because they sponsor the show, but Shimano. I mean, hello, it's like, you know, it's like Holden, you know what I mean?
It's just my household name. No, the trouble we've got here, Wadi, at the moment is we're going to run out of time, but I mean, we just, we might just, that's what I be. I wanted to touch base with you anyway. So yeah, you're going up there because I notice that some of the restrictions are easing up there in the Top End, which is great news, and you'll, I think your user are down to just a handful of cases up there, this virus now, which is good.
I know I said I wouldn't mention the virus again, but mate, and as it gets less, the restrictions or ease and good luck to you up in the territory, you have done a great job up there. But mate, we'll talk about some of the gear that you should take out fishing with you when some of those knots that you've invented as well and get people prepped from when they come up the Top End, a Bag a Barra. Yeah, that's right. The not stuff is a really good one to look into right now.
People can see on my Facebook page that one minute Monday stuff that I do. It goes onto the website page as well. I've got a how to tie the PR. Wag it, quick, while we're nearly out of time here, son.
All right. Well, we'll touch on that next week. Yeah, jump on there. say Barefoot Fishing Safaris.
Jump on the Facebook page. Sorry, mate, we're just running out of time. We're in a big Saturday. will catch you next week, eh?
