Okay, let's head to the Top End, to Bag a Barra, with Glenn what he wants, thanks to Barefoot Fishing Safaris. Getting pretty real, this program. We're getting people out on the side of the road in the wind, in the heat and the humidity now. We've got a bloke on a tinny somewhere.
Watty? How's the line? How are you, mate? Yeah, I'm good.
Good. Nice little breeze keeping us cool this morning, so it's happy day, darling. Yeah, happy. That's the go. Yeah, look, we'll we'll try and persevere because the line's been a bit dodgy as we spoke to our fair there, mate.
Where are you? I'm at a secret location to the east of Darling Harbour. I want to trick these big bar again, mate. We got some big flies thrown around virgin along the bottom today, so we're... Have you caught yourself, Jack?
Oh, I've got a hook in a. We've got a hook in a leg. There you go, folks. It doesn't get any more real than this.
So, what have you got people on a boat there? What have you done? You've hooked someone in the league with a fishing hook. Not me.
I'm sitting here. Kathy's just hooked herself with a fly. Oh, fair Deacon. There you go.
So you're into woman? many have you got so far? We've got nothing so far. We're targeting these real big ones.
This time changing now. Yeah. But yeah, we'll go in for some little fellas in the snag shortly after after we catch a big one, hopefully. That is a, yeah, good as fly, saltwater fly champion and just hooked herself in the leg. Oh, this is great stuff mate. I mean, it doesn't get any any more fair income than this.
So you're out, then how many people have you got on the boat with you? It's just Kathy and Roger, there, there, there, there, there's a school officer stallwarts here in Darwin, and they won one of my members' charter drawers for this month, so this is the Thursday. Okay, all right. It sounds, well, like I say, it's pretty fading on this, so you're out there and then, and this is, you're in, you say it's a top secret spot.
I mean, they're all secret spots. Amazing really. I mean, how many times do fisherman say, oh, where'd you get them, mate? Oh, I can't tell you, it's a secret spot, but you're in a, but you're in the region where you film that shark chasing the barrier, yeah?
Yeah that's right. We're right here. I can see the bay. And we're just trying to do a bit of surgery on this leg, yeah?
But, um, yeah, they're scooled up here again, these big fish today, but, um, they, um, they're reluctant to buy those. They tend to get a little bit tricky this time of year. Why we're throwing fly out of the day, try and um figure out the pattern, you know. Yeah, right, okay.
Can you give it a technical, can't it, this barrow fishing? Uh, you can, you can go as deep as you want with it, duck, like it, you, you can really try and nut them out or just, I sometimes think it's a bit like girls, you know, you just accept it and don't try and understand it. I'll leave that one alone. I still need to speak to your fair about how you went with the Swedish backpackers for Christmas a few years ago, but that's another story.
Yeah, that is another story. Yeah, but anyway, mate, did you, did you ever heard of the Nulliborn nymph? Banulla Ball? No, well, that was what Graham K was trying to tell me about it.
He was telling me about, apparently somewhere on the Nullah ball there that you'll see a naked woman that runs across the road, which I didn't see, but I did see the sign for it about 2 days after I spoke to him. So he was actually telling the truth. some sort of mythical legend out there. It's bit like the Min Min lights, you know?
strange part of the world. Mate, it's a real dodgy line. Mate, we'll let you go. You're on a boat.
you got to do surgery now to remove the hook from... I'll send you the photo. Yeah, send the photo. We'll pop it up on our Facebook and you'll obviously pop it up on yours. Hey, listen, just on that.
quick, before I let you go, I saw a photo of you of some sort of surgery done to yourself. What was that? Yeah, that was, that's a bit of preventative maintenance made on a, um, on a little spot that I had on my arm, which I, um, I thought might turn into a, um, into a skin cancer at some stage. Yeah, right, okay.
Because you're exposed heavily, aren't you, up there? Yeah, I am, although I wear long shirt and long coats every day, but it's something that I am very mindful of, is that so smart, sort of thing, and then I get checked up by a dermatologist every 12 months, which is really important if you spend any time out in the sun these days. I can catch them early and get rid of them before they become a problem. Yeah, no, well, no good advice, mate.
Well, said, that's exactly right. And for a bloke who's, you know, done a bit on jet skis and things in me day and I've had a few removed and had a big one cut out of me ear not long ago. They're not a lot of fun, so it is best to sort of get onto that and like you say, be sunsmart and make the lifestyle you lead. And mate, that is very, very important.
Mate, we'll let you go because the line is a bit dodgy. It's been a day for dodgy lines this week because everyone we're talking to is out and about, but you've taken the prize on a boat, fishing for Barramundi and all you've caught so far as a girl. Nothing unusual there, I guess. Got her pencil down as a keeper, but otherwise I'll take her.
And on that note, what he will let you let you go, son. Talk to you next week. See you later. And there he is, our man, Watty from Barefoot Fishing Safaris. Yeah, they're on a boat.
What about that, eh? Easter Darwin Harbour out there trying to rule in Big Barras while he's talking to me on the phone.
