One Minute Monday Tip: Match the Hatch
Righto self isolators, we all know the old fly fishing line about matching the hatch. Well its the same in lure fishing!
Before the big shut down id just completed 6 extended charters out at the Daly River fishing for Barramundi in the run-off creeks, rock bars, flood plains and eddys on a falling river. There was fish everywhere and they were being met by our hooks regularly.
It’s not all easy peasy though as anyone who has fished for Barra would know they can get keyed in on a particular food source and its very hard to tempt them with anything else.
the video below illustrates just how important it is to match the hatch with lures as close to the the prey item as possible.
In the end it comes down to observation and preparation. If you pay attention to the signs around you and have a range of lures in the kit you should be in with a pretty good chance of figuring out at least that part of the Barra puzzle…
